We offer competitive art lending solutions to borrowers globally.
We provide loans secured against high quality works of art and jewellery for collectors and owners who may have immediate liquidity needs or who wish to release valuable capital from their collections for other purposes.
Our specialist team offers a highly professional, and confidential appraisal of borrowers’ potential collateral, as well as advising on the optimal sale channels for a particular piece if required. Independent from auction houses, we can deliver impartial financing solutions specific to each client’s personal and financial objectives.
We can arrange either term loans or advance loans (based on the expected proceeds of pieces to be sold at auction), and are proud of our responsive and efficient process, usually conducting an initial appraisal within 48 hours, and completing loans in two to four weeks.
You provide us with initial details of your work(s) and we will assess whether it is suitable collateral, usually within 48 hours.
If the work is suitable collateral, we will request further information and documentation and agree the terms of the loan with you.
Our art operations team will make all the necessary transport, storage and insurance arrangements with you and then pay you the loan monies.
What type of art can I borrow against?
We will consider any high-quality works of art from 1400 to the present day, as well as photography, jewellery and stones. In all cases, the borrower must be the legal owner of the work(s), the pieces must have an established secondary market and a value of not less than US$500,000 (as determined by our specialists). We do not lend against wine, antiquities or classic cars.
How much can I borrow?
On the basis of our loan collateral valuations, we can lend up to 50% of the value of the work(s).
What interest rates apply?
Each loan and the accompanying collateral will be carefully considered and we will determine pricing on the basis of a number of factors. However, we typically lend in the mid-single digit range.
Where will my art be stored during the loan?
We will arrange for your art to be stored during the loan period at one of our specialist storage facilities in London, Geneva, New York, Hong Kong or Singapore. Depending on the circumstances, your art may also continue to be exhibited in a museum during the loan period. Our specialist art logistics team will work with you to arrange physical inspection, transport and storage of the work(s).
Do I have to disclose my other financial assets and information?
No, our loans are based on the quality of the collateral you provide and not on your other financial assets.
How do I start the process?
We request that you or your client send us a full description of the collection or work(s) to be considered for collateral, including for each piece: artist and title, a high resolution image, dimensions, medium, purchase price/date/source and current location. We will conduct an initial assessment of the work and let you know, usually within 48 hours, if the work is suitable collateral.
If the work is suitable collateral, we will request further information and documentation to complete our full due diligence.
What documentation do I need to provide?
We will require documentation that evidences that you are the legal owner of work(s), as well as insurance certificate(s), customs documents and any other applicable documents. We will also require "know your customer (KYC)" documentation for you as a borrower.
Our team will guide you through the documentation requirements.
